Somber co-workers at Smurfit-Stone met one last time Thursday afternoon for a prayer vigil at the mill’s flagpole.
Employees prayed for those who were not rehired when Georgia-Pacific bought the Brewton mill from Smurfit.
Brother Ernie Calhoun talked to the group and expressed his sorrow for the circumstances that brought everyone together.
Dorothy Samuels also spoke to the group, and the Rev. Johnny Atkinson led them in prayer.
