Only a day after downtown Brewton lost electrical power because of a downed power pole, Southern Pine had its own problems to deal with.
Wednesday morning the Brewton Fire Department responded to a fire at Southern Pine. Upon arrival they quickly brought the fire under control, but the damage had been done.
The sub-station behind the main office on U.S. 31 south of Brewton caught on fire and quickly spread to one of its two transformers, said Vince Johnson, general manager at Southern Pine.
On Tuesday, Alabama Power customers in downtown Brewton lost power for about six hours when a truck hit a power pole.
