Ms. Mary Claunetta Smith, 61, died Oct, 10, 2007. She was a 1954 graduate of Southern Normal High School and a member of Second St. Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. She was a home health caretaker for many years. She was a former resident of Chicago, before she came back to Brewton to care for her parents. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleola Marie Hendrieth.
She is survived by her father, Leroy Smith; a brother, Byron Roy Smith of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; eight aunts, Alice Carmichael of Milton, Fla., Elizabeth Levelle of Chicago, Ruby Vincent of Montgomery, Ellen Leonard of Daphne, Zelma Smith of Manhatten, N.Y., Fannie Hendrieth of Selma and Louisa Hendrieth and Pauline Hendrieth, both of Brewton; three uncles, James Hendrieth of Brewton, John Leonard of Daphne and the Rev. Earl Jackson of Mobile; and a host of other friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at Second St. Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
