Two Brewton men were arrested Saturday after Brewton Police responded to an incident at a bar on Rogers Street.
Sgt. Eric Suarez said the two were arrested in two separate events.
James Hendrieth, 28, was arrested about a half block from Duckie’s Bar and Grill after police officers heard shots fired in the area.
Suarez said officers arrived at where the shots were fired and found seven or eight people involved in a fight with one of those in possession of a gun. Hendrieth was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm inside the city limits. He was taken to the Escambia County Detention Center for booking. In lieu of posting bond, he remained in custody Tuesday.
As officers were investigating the incident and clearing up the scene, Suarez said, the police department received a report of an injured person at D.W. McMillan Emergency Room.
After investigating the report, officers arrested Tremayne Smith, 29, and charged him with assault second degree in a separate incident. He was taken to the Escambia County Detention Center where bond was set at $5,000. He posted bail and was released on Monday according to officials.
An investigation into the separate events is being conducted by the Brewton Police Department.
Anyone with information concerning either incident is asked to call the department at 867-3212.
