The Battle of Murder Creek means a lot to T.R. Miller coach Jamie Riggs. Riggs has played in the game as a player and has coached in the game for many years. Since becoming head coach at T.R. Miller is 1989, Riggs has compiled a 19-2 record against the Eagles from East Brewton.
T.R. Miller (5-3 overall, 4-2 class 4A region one) is coming off a 43-25 victory over Hillcrest. With the win, T.R. Miller is currently in third-place in the region and a win this week against W.S. Neal will solidify a playoff berth.
This week will need to be no different for the Tigers as they face archrival W.S. Neal.
W.S Neal is led by running backs Ray Nelson (5-11, 180 lb. senior), Akeem Green (5-10, 180 lb. senior) and Nate Sheffield (5-10, 160 lb. junior).
Nelson is averaging 7.8 yards a carry as he has 592 yards on the year and four touchdowns. Green has totaled 433 yards and Sheffield has 163 yards on the season.
Last year, W.S. Neal came back from a 21-0 halftime deficit and defeated T.R. Miller for the first win in over 10 years.
Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in East Brewton.
