Brewton youth sweep Cantonment in football

The Brewton Youth Football teams completed a sweep of Cantonment this past weekend.
The mini mites team won 26-12 followed by the Mites 12-6 win and the 27-7 victory for the Midgets.
In the mini mites game, the Brewton offense was led by quarterback Michael Smith who had a 55-yard touchdown run. Alex Daugherty had a 15-yard touchdown run as D'Angelo Thomas had a 3-yard run and Sam Terry had a fumble recovery in the end zone for a touchdown.
Jeremiya Mitchell, Michael Campbell, Jacob Oden and Joshua Gunter led the defense. With the win, the mini mites make it to the first round of the playoffs.
For the mites, Brewton took two overtimes to come away with the win over Cantonment. With the win, the mites will also enter the playoffs this Saturday.
On offense, quarterback Kellyn Winn scored on a 15-yard run to take the game into overtime. After a 6-6 tie in the first overtime, Winn connected with Chardian Johnson for a 3-yard pass in the end zone for the win.
On defense for Brewton, Larry Cheatham, Anterio Drakeford, D'Andre Fraser and Treylon Watson helped preserve the win.
For the Midgets, Dominique Jackson had an outstanding game on offense for Brewton as he had over 150 yards in pass receptions from Kieon Smith for two touchdowns. Dedrionne Lee had a 35-yard pass reception for a touchdown and Eric Maye had 100 yards rushing and one touchdown for the win.
With the win, the Midgets captured the area championship and will play 11 seed Brent White in the first round of the playoffs.
On defense, Jalen Jones, Michael Woods, David Barragan and Kameron Coleman helped with the win.
