Larry Woods, manager of the Brewton office of Alabama Power Company, recently presented a $25,000 check on behalf of the company.
The 20th anniversary campaign under way at the Brewton Area YMCA is meant to gather funds for a variety of work planned at the facility.
Shaddock said the funds raised during the campaign will help to update, freshen and refurbish the YMCA facility, grounds and equipment.
David Stokes, chairman of the YMCA's campaign, joined Shaddock in accepting the donation from Alabama Power.
Contributions will help to bridge the gap between the operating budget and funds needed for larger expenditures such as refurbishment and upgrades at the facility, Shaddock said.
Operating funds are generated, in part, from membership fees paid by supporters and participants of YMCA programs.
The Brewton Area YMCA boasts some of the lowest membership rates in the region, Shaddock said.
Family membership at the Brewton Area YMCA is $37 per month, Shaddock said.
The current fund-raising campaign has reached almost half of its $500,000 goal.
