Sectional success

The T.R. Miller Tiger cross country teams competed in the class 4A sectionals Thursday at Auburn's Kiesel Park.
The boys team came away with third place in the meet and the girls team was unable to compete as a team due to only four members running.
For the boys, Brandon Nelson was the top finisher for the Tigers as he came in fourth place with a time of 18:20.28. Corey Cunningham was the second Tiger to finish as he placed sixth overall with a time of 18:31.10. Geoff Youngblood placed ninth overall with a time of 18:36.37 and Cole Pruitt placed 30th with a time of 19:51.74.
Tyler Parker placed 32nd with a time of 19:56.14 and Taylor Terry placed 50th with a time of 22:56.32.
For the girls, Crystal Higdon was the top finisher for the Tigers as she came in with a time of 21:42.69 posting a sixth place finish. Shelby Youngblood placed ninth with a time of 22:15.37. Taylor Guthrie earned a 30th place finish with a time of 25:13.90 and Abby Carlson placed 42nd with a time of 33:09.66
The Tigers will compete next Saturday in Moulton at the Oakville Indian Mounds at the 4A state meet.
All of the boys will compete for the Tigers, and Shelby Youngblood and Crystal Higdon will compete for the girls.
