Boys take sixth

The T.R. Miller Tiger boys cross country team placed sixth overall Saturday in the 4A state cross country meet at Oakville Indian Mounds Park.
The girls team only had two members running and were unable to compete as a team.
Geoff Youngblood placed 19th overall in the boys division, leading all Tigers with a time of 18:02.93.
Brandon Nelson finished second for the Tigers and 24th overall with a time of 18:21.50. Corey Cunningham placed 29th overall with a time of 18:30.06.
Cole Pruitt placed 69th overall with a time of 19:47.18, and Tyler Parker placed 80th for T.R. Miller with a time of 20:01.48.
Taylor Terry rounded out the Tiger finishers with a time of 21:28.78, earning him a 107th place finish.
T.R. Miller placed sixth out of 12 teams in the boys team scores.
Crystal Higdon and Shelby Youngblood were the only competitors in the girls race for the Tigers.
Higdon placed 26th overall with a time of 21:32.71 as Youngblood placed 28th with a time of 21:37.67.
T.R. Miller cross country coach Rob Atkinson, who is in his first year of coaching in the sports, said he was proud of his team this year.
Atkinson said there were 938 runners in Moulton, Ala., to compete in the race. 
The Tigers were only nine points away from a top four finish. 
Atkinson said Parker as been a great leader all year and helped the team excel.
On the girls side Shelby Youngblood posted her personal record and took 28th place.  “Shelby has improved all year long and I know that she will be a great runner in the future,” Atkinson said.
