This is a continuation of the material that was in “The Brewton Standard” in 1960. It was printed about the same time as the present courthouse opened.
This was written in 1960 when the present courthouse opened. It has been 47 years and would take a lot of money if the county were to reconstruct a new facility using today's standards of construction.
I hope that you've been enjoying the information shared here about our old courthouses in the area. It has been a pleasure to revisit that history for me.
If you have any additional information about the historical buildings, I'd love to hear from you. If you'd like to share any information with me on any historical subject, I'd be happy to talk with you about it.
You can give me a call at 867-4876 or drop by the office at 407 St. Nicholas Ave. I can be reached by e-mail at lydia.grimes@brewtonstandard.com.
Until next week, happy hunting!
