The City of Brewton is looking to pass a new sign ordinance - but one that continues to ban new billboards.
The council on Tuesday set a public hearing for Dec. 8, 2008, to discuss the new ordinance.
The proposed measure would allow electronic message boards but not billboards, Yuhasz said.
The planning commission worked to develop the new ordinance this fall after the council asked commission members to rework the measure to include the ban on outdoor billboards.
In other business Tuesday, the council approved a restaurant retail liquor license for the new Mexican restaurant Palenque, which is located in the Wal-Mart shopping center.
