Brewton Mayor Ted Jennings will help coordinate the next National League of Cities convention.
Jennings told the city council Tuesday he was honored to be chosen for the position, especially since it reflects well on Brewton.
The National League of Cities' new president is Cynthia McCollum, a council member from Madison.
Also Tuesday, the council introduced a new ordinance to change the business license schedule.
Under the ordinance, licenses would no longer be charged at a flat rate but by gross receipts of the business. The city's ordinance calls for a $100 flat fee plus .75 percent of the gross receipts between $200,000 and $15 million.
