Shopping for 138 children may sound like a huge undertaking. But for members of the Brewton Kiwanis Club, the task was one of joy and excitement.
With a shopping list and a $70 budget for each child, volunteers helped children shop for clothes and even a toy during the Saturday morning event at the Brewton Wal-Mart.
The club raises funds throughout the year by selling items at the annual Blueberry Festival each summer.
Individuals and other groups in the community also help make the event possible, Kirkland said.
The children are referred to Kiwanis by the Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, Kirkland said.
Students assisting the 15 Kiwanis members with shopping duties included those from W.S. Neal High School, T.R. Miller High School and Jefferson Davis Community College.
