Mr. Elmer Clinton Carden, 77, of Old Foshee Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at a local nursing facility after an extended illness. He was a native of Mt. Carmel, Fla., and a lifetime resident of Escambia County, Ala. He attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church and retired from T.R. Miller Mill Company with 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Carden; two children, Mary Linda Forsyth and Ricky Carden; and a sister, Hazel King.
He is survived by a son, Roger (Lori) Carden of Brewton; two daughters, Jeanette (Walter) Moore and Betty (David) Thomas, both of Brewton; a stepson, Dixon Edwards of Vero Beach Fla.; three sisters, Maxine (Henry) Hooks and Etta Jean (Claude) Alford, both of East Brewton, and Eloise Carden (Tom) Hooper of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Adam Armstrong officiating. Burial followed at Odom Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
