While Christmas break is upon us and Christmas Eve is tomorrow night, I want to start out this week's column by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
While on the subject of Merry Christmas, soon after the final presents are unwrapped, basketball season starts back up for the T.R. Miller basketball programs.
On Wednesday, Dec. 26, the T.R. Miller boys will be traveling to Fort Walton Beach to play in the Choctawhatchee Playground Shootout.
The Tigers will open up Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. against Pine Forest.
That is a really early tip off and even a really earlier time of departure for the Tigers, as they will leave Brewton at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.
If the Tigers win they will play Thursday at 7 p.m. against the winner of Choctaw and Poplarville, Miss.
If the Tigers lose they will play the loser of the game that same day at 2:30 p.m.
Just glancing at the bracket of the boy's tournament, counting the Tigers, there are 16 teams in the tournament.
States with teams in the tournament are Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana.
The girl's basketball team will also be heading to the sunshine state, as the girls will take place in the Pensacola Catholic Christmas tournament starting on Thursday, Dec. 27. Both tournaments welcome schools from various surrounding high schools and will be some great basketball games.
If the Tigers win they will play Thursday at 7 p.m. against the winner of Choctaw and Poplarville, Miss.
The girls will start their action at 5:30 on Wednesday when they take on Washington.
The girls will be back in action the next day at the same time when they face off against Pine Forest.
The Lady Tigers will close the tournament against host team Pensacola Catholic at 7 p.m.
I want to wish all area teams the best of luck and until Wednesday when we meet again, Merry Christmas again and God bless.
