Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Hurston Collins, 81, of Evergreen Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at a local hospital. She was a native and long-time resident of Columbus, Ga., before moving to Brewton more than 30 years ago. She was a member of Dogwood Hills Assembly of God Church and served the church in many capacities. She was retired from Escambia County DHR and she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Claude E. Collins; a daughter, Carolyn Grice; and a granddaughter, April Grice.
She is survived by a son, Danny Collins of Marietta, Ga.; a son-in-law, James Grice of Brewton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Cox, the Rev. Kenneth Collins, and the Rev. Tommy Quick officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
