Coastal Gateway Economic Development Authority – comprised of Escambia, Monroe and Conecuh counties – announced a merger today with Twin Rivers Economic Development Parternship, which includes Clarke and Choctaw counties.
EDA officials said the expanded regional approach will help all of those involved attract new jobs.
"We looked at what we had in common in our five areas," Coastal Gateway CEO Wiley Blankenship said. "We are very similar, and there is strength in numbers."
The five counties will now work together on industrial recruitment, and CGEDA will also hire a new staff member to focus on helping existing industry in the region.
