Participants in this year's Martin Luther King Jr. parade were determined to honor the Civil Rights pioneer's birthday this year.
With plans for a bigger parade in the works for weeks, they did not let rain dampen the parade on Saturday.
Instead, they delayed it a few hours and marched in the cold rain anyway.
Kudos to the two out-of-town bands who stayed to perform, to the participants who marched through town despite the rain and to the organizers who did not give up on the celebration. King would have been proud of their perseverance. We hope that next year's parade continues to grow - and that we have some dry, sunny weather for a change.
