If your child has ever dreamed of being a munchkin, they will soon have an opportunity to make that dream come true as the Brewton Council of the Arts sponsors a production of Cinderella early next month.
Auditions have been set for Monday, Feb. 4 beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Jefferson Davis Community College. The venue will also be the site for the production when it is presented on Feb. 9 beginning at 7 p.m.
Last season, the traveling theatre group came to Brewton and cast dozens of area children in parts for “The Little Mermaid.” That production featured a number of children in leading and support roles with a large audience on hand for the production.
Auditions will be held in one afternoon with parts being cast following the auditions. Rehearsals for the production will begin immediately and will give the young actors and actresses just one week to prepare for the presentation of the program.
The Missoula Children's Theatre is the national largest touring children's theatre and has been touring for 34 years from Montana, it's home state, to Japan.
The group will visit more then 1,200 communities with programs like the one presented in Brewton.
MCT provides the set for their productions and also supplies lights, costumes, props and makeup to put on the play. The group also provides tour actor/directors to help lead the play's rehearsals and performance.
Those interested in auditioning for a role in the production should be at auditions on time and be prepared to remain on site for the first round of rehearsals immediately following.
