Members of the Dixonville Volunteer Fire Department responded to an accident Sunday morning to find one of their own in need.
Thomas Wade McNaughton, 31, a member of the fire department, died as a result of the injuries he sustained in a one car accident Sunday morning in the Dixonville community. The victim was the only occupant of a 1994 Jaguar that left the roadway hitting a pine tree before coming to a stop.
Migas said McNaughton was the only passenger in the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
McNaughton was a longtime member of the Dixonville Volunteer Fire Department.
Migas said the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments Honor Guard would attend the services to honor McNaughton's time with the department.
Services for McNaughton are set for 3 p.m. today at the Jay First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Dixonville Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Trooper Pedro Dacosta with the Alabama Department of Public Safety highway patrol division responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.
