Mrs. Ada Ruth Jones Johnston, 73, of Thompson Street, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County. She was a member of East Brewton First United Methodist Church, a 1953 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, and a secretary for the Escambia County Fire Association for 14 years, and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas A. Johnston of East Brewton; two sons, Stan (Laura) Johnston of Mobile, and Steven (Christy) Johnston of East Brewton; one daughter, Suzanne (Mack) Hastings of East Brewton; a sister, Clara Carter of Lebanon, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a special friend, Jeanette Lambert.
Visitation will be held at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. George Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Brooklyn Baptist Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
