Members of the Brewton precinct of the Alabama Democratic Conference didn't let the drop in temperature or the rain drops falling on their heads stop them from celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The celebration began with a parade which featured bands from B.C. Rain of Mobile and Wilcox County High School. Many people, young and old, walked the parade route, which began at the courthouse and ended at the Brewton Sportsman Park, where about 350 people enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and sodas.
The Brewton precinct of the Alabama Democratic Conference extends a heartfelt thank you to all who braved the weather and participated in the celebration.
We extend a special thank you to the following businesses and individuals whose donations made this dream a successful reality: J&L Enterprises Inc., T.R. Miller Mill Co., Rachel Agerton, The Printing Station, James K. Taylor, David Jordan, Jim and Madelin Hildreth, The Farm Center, Judith Johnson, Starfish Inc., Thomas E. McMillan Jr., Brewton Ironworks Inc., Express One, Wal-Mart, Ted Jennings, Weaver's Glass, Watson Wholesale Inc., Grover Smith, Williams Memorial Chapel, Securance, Merrill E. Ledford, Presley Fluker, New Life Holiness Church, Second Shady Grove Church, Cary Barton, the Rev. Willie Blue, Brewton Police Department and Brewton and East Brewton fire departments.
As Martin Luther King Jr. said in his “I Have a Dream” speech:
