Bridging the gap

Lively conversation and friendly competition filled the dining room at the Country Club of Brewton Friday as 40 women participated in a bridge tournament that will benefit Alabama Rural Ministries.
ARM seeks to serve the elderly, families and children in Brewton who need improvements to unsafe living conditions.
Money raised from the tournament will help ARM with renovation projects at homes throughout the community.
ARM volunteers Carolyn Jennings and Ellen Mantel were pleased with the turnout at the bridge tournament, the first for the new ARM affiliate in Brewton.
Bridge games began at 9:30, with a break for lunch, and ended at about 2:30. Thirty-two door prizes and other prizes were awarded. Seventeen people joined the group for lunch before the 10 tables of bridge resumed their play.
