Mr. Maurice J. Tolbert Jr., 65, of Cantonment, Fla., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008. He was a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Cantonment. He was a graduate of T.R. Miller High School and retired from the U.S. Army at Ft. Rucker. Ala. During his service in the military, he served two tours in Vietnam. He was also a graduate of Pensacola Junior College, where he earned two associates degrees. He was also retired from NADEP in Cherry Point, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice L. Tolbert, and a brother, Earl Tolbert.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Tolbert; his mother, Helen Marie Tolbert; three children, Donna J. (Larry) Lawrence, Maurice R. (Ramona) Tolbert and Clayton Hacker, all of Manchester, Ky.; a sister, Helen Jean (William) Haugh of Folsom, La.; and four granddaughters, Maegan, Miranda, Chelsey and Kacie.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at 9 a.m. from the Faith Chapel Funeral Home chapel in Cantonment with the Rev. L.C. Rucker officiating. Burial, with full military honors, followed at Barrancas National Cemetery with Faith Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
