The East Escambia Chapter of The American Red Cross is looking for heroes.
The chapter will be using heroes to help in a fund-raising effort that officials hope will reach the $24,000 goal.
The fund raising campaign is set to begin Feb. 25 with a kick-off breakfast and will continue through March 10, Jernigan said.
“The two-week period will be a short campaign,” Jernigan said. “We are hoping to make this a successful as possible.”
Although some Heroes have already volunteered to be a part of the fund raising effort, Jernigan said the Red Cross chapter needs as many heroes as possible.
Brewton Fire Chief Lawrence Weaver and Brewton Police Chief Monte McGougin have already pledged to be Heroes for the chapter, Jernigan said.
Organizations and individuals are encouraged to be a part of the fund raising efforts, Jernigan said.
All funds raised during the campaign will stay in the Brewton area, Jernigan said.
Disaster relief comes in many forms, Jernigan said.
Any group or individual interested in becoming a Red Cross Hero is asked to contact Jernigan at 867-3335 or by email at wyjernigan@bellsouth.net.
