WSN basketball teams fall to Georgiana

The W.S. Neal basketball teams hosted the Georgiana Panthers Friday night at home and all three teams came away with losses in the games.
The B team Eagles kicked things off with a 36-34 loss. It was the final game of the season for the Eagles. In the girls game, the Lady Eagles lost 42-32 as the boys ended the night with a 47-42 loss.
The boys and girls will be in action this week in area two tournament play.
W.S. Neal 42, Georgiana 47
It was the same old story for the W.S. Neal Eagles Friday night at home against the Georgiana Panthers as the Eagles lost their seventh game in a row and fell to 4-19 on the year after a 47-42 loss-Three good or OK quarters and one bad quarter.
The quarter this time was the third quarter.
After holding a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles still held a four-point lead at 30-26 at the half after being outscored 17-13 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter it was all downhill as the Panthers of Georgiana outscored the Eagles 14-3 in the quarter to take a 40-33 lead and then held on in the fourth for the 47-42 win.
Chris Payne led the Eagles with 16 points as Jeremy Alexander added double figures for the Eagles with 10.
The Eagles will compete in the class 4A area two tournament beginning Friday in Andalusia.
The Eagles will face off against Andalusia at 7:30 Friday night and if they win, will face the T.R. Miller and Hillcrest winner Monday at 7 p.m. back in Andalusia.

Georgiana 42
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles lost their second game in as many outings Friday night at home when they fell to Georgiana 42-32 to fall to 7-16 on the season.
Katie Elliott led the Lady Eagles with 16 points.
In the first quarter of the game, both W.S. Neal and Georgiana matched each other as they scored nine points a piece.
In the second quarter of play, Georgiana held a 10-6 advantage in the quarter to hold a 19-15 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles posted 13 points in the quarter to the Lady Panthers nine as they tied the game at 28-28 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Georgina posted 14 points in the quarter to the Lady Eagles four as they took the win 42-32.
The Lady Eagles will begin area tournament play Thursday night at T.R. Miller.
The two rivals will tangle at 6:30 p.m. as the winner will advance and play the winner of Andalusia and Hillcrest as the loser's season will come the an end.
W.S. Neal B team 34, Georgiana 36
It was not the way they were hoping to end their season, but the W.S. Neal B team ended their season with a 36-34 loss to Georgiana Friday night at home and a 7-13 record.
Percy Travis and Lawrence Bowman each scored seven points to lead the Eagles.
In the game Friday, the Eagles held a 5-4 lead at the end of the first quarter before being outscored 6-4 in the second quarter to trail 10-9 at the half.
In the third quarter, both teams matched each other with 10 points each as Georgiana held a 20-19 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, both teams showed out as they combined for 31 points with Georgiana having 16 and Neal having 15 as Georgiana held on for the 36-34 win.
