The City of Brewton is in good company.
City officials received a certificate of achievement Tuesday for excellence in financial reporting - making the city one of only about 10 in the state that receive such awards for fiscal responsibility.
The city has received the award for several years in a row and received it for the past year even though the state made substantial changes to the reporting rules, mainly to accommodate the bonding industry.
Mayor Ted Jennings said the award is important in light of news that some other cities have problems with fiscal management.
