Family loses home

One family lost most of its belongings after an apartment fire in East Brewton Thursday afternoon.
East Brewton firefighters battled the blaze at Wynnchase Apartments. Initially, eleven families were displaced for a short time.
Unit D at the complex on Williamson Street was evacuated as firefighters battled an upstairs apartment fire.
By Saturday, just one family was in need of a new permanent residence, Red Cross officials said.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours as hot spots were extinguished and the threat of re-burn was eliminated.
The apartment located directly beneath the burned apartment suffered some water damage as well, Thousand said.
The East Escambia Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to the fire to offer assistance to those families affected by the blaze.
A family of four lost most of their belongings in the fire and will need to find permanent housing as a result of the blaze, Martin said.
No injuries were reported by residents or firefighters in connection with the blaze.
