Mrs. Joyce B. Gillis, 67, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at her residence. She was a native of Cartersville, Ga., and had been a resident of Brewton since 1971, coming from Hattisburg, Miss. She was a retired nurse and a member of Alco Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert D. Gillis Jr.
She is survived by a son, John (Cindy) Lancaster of Brewton; three daughters, Jamie (Walter) Steele, Joy (Mike) Sawyer, and Jennifer Gillis, all of Brewton; a brother, Fritz Boothe of Eatonton, Ga.; a sister, Louise Wright of Jarreau, La.; a niece, Danner Whittaker of Brewton; and six grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, at Union Cemetery at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Coburn and the Rev. Jerry Caylor officiating and Craver's Funeral Home directing.
