Mrs. Jewel Ivey Chavers, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native and longtime resident of Brewton, and a former resident of Pensacola before moving to Virginia eight years ago. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Chavers; and a son, Clifford Chavers.
She is survived by a son, Jerome (Carolyn) Chavers of Jeffersonton; a brother, Melvin (Ernestine) Ivey of Brewton; and two grandsons, Kevin and Matthew Chavers of Jeffersonton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kelly officiating. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. at Pensacola Memoial Gardens with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
