Dana Smith's classmates will be with him Saturday when he and his family, along with Habitat for Humanity volunteers, begin construction on their new house.
Employees at several local businesses will be there when the hammers start flying.
Church groups will be there to paint, lay sod and do whatever else is necessary to get Dana Smith and his family into a new house in just one week.
Will you be there?
You have an entire seven days - if it even takes this determined group that long - to be part of something amazing in our community.
Anyone who has seen a Habitat house come together, whether it's over a few weeks or several months, knows that the teamwork involved transforms the project from construction work to magic act.
The way a group of people come together to create a new home for a family in our community is an act of pure love and kindness.
If you've never been a part of a Habitat build, now is your chance. You don't have to have any experience; longtime volunteers will be there to guide you.
All you have to have is a desire to make life better in our community, one step at a time. That's what Habitat for Humanity has been doing with more than a dozen homes in Brewton so far.
Dana Smith and the Woods family have worked hard for their dream of a new house, and they will be pouring their own sweat equity into the construction. Habitat volunteers will be there to help them, and you can, too.
