What a season! They won 21 games and lost five, had a 16 game win streak, won the Escambia County tournament, won the regular season area championship and the area tournament and then won the South regional and advanced to the final state semifinals in Birmingham.
Oh, and all this was done without a senior on the team.
The resume that I just typed was the resume of the 2007-2008 T.R. Miller Lady Tiger basketball team.
Things did not look good from the beginning as the Lady Tigers limped out to a 1-2 start before winning four straight and the county tournament to take a 5-2 record into the Christmas break.
The break was not much of a break as the Lady Tigers lost two of three games at the Pensacola Catholic Robert Burke classic to fall to 6-4 on the year.
But until Tuesday's 60-42 loss to Deshler, that was the last loss the Lady Tigers saw.
The Lady Tigers reeled off 16 straight wins and was a perfect 15-0 in 2008 until the Deshler loss.
While the loss to Deshler ended the Lady Tiger's season, the girls had nothing to hang their heads about.
Sure, when you come that far, it seems like a failure to not come away with the blue map trophy (the state championship) but the Lady Tigers represented and played like winners.
By far, they had the best record of all area basketball teams so far this year and as I say again
