Little League baseball players will soon have another reason to run the bases.
Georgia-Pacific's Brewton Mill presented a $132,000 check to the City of East Brewton to be used to construct an additional playing field at the city's R.T. Johnson Sports Park.
Work on the new field has already begun, said East Brewton Mayor Terry Clark.
Joyce said the company had been looking ways to help with needs in the Brewton and East Brewton communities.
East Brewton Recreation Director Joey Shell said he is excited about the addition of the field to the two fields already in place at the park complex.
Clark said the construction of the field is expected to be complete within a couple of months.
Joyce said GP's Brewton Mill has felt welcome to the East Brewton and Brewton communities since becoming a part of the area recently.
