Pitching and hitting lead JV Tigers to first win of season against Excel

The T.R. Miller Tiger JV baseball team began their season on Monday and earned a split with the Excel Panthers in Excel.
The Tigers took game one 6-2 to pick up their first win of the year in as many games and lost the second game by the same score.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday when they take on Monroe County at home in a 3:30 p.m. game.

Freshman left-hander Joseph Strength recorded the win on the mound for the Tigers in game one as he went the complete game allowing eight hits and two runs while recording three strikeouts.
Corey Rilling, Robert Knowles, and Stephen Warren all recorded RBIs in the game as Trent Robinson was a perfect 3-for-3 on the day for the Tigers.
Rilling scored two runs for the Tigers.
In the game, after a scoreless first inning for both teams the Tigers broke through first in the top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Rilling scored two RBIs in the inning with a single.
In the top of the third inning, Warren plated Robinson to give the Tigers a 4-0.
The Tigers added to their lead in the top of the fourth as Rilling plated another RBI and Robinson's single gave the Tigers a 6-0 lead.
Excel scored two in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-2, but T.R. Miller was able to hold on for the win.

After taking the first game 6-2, the Tigers had the tables turned on them in game two as Excel dropped the Tigers to 1-1 on the year with a 6-2 win.
Corey Rilling got the start and the loss on the mound for the Tigers as he allowed six runs on five hits and walked two in three innings.
Ryland Dixon came in relief for the Tigers, pitched one inning and walked one.
Wil Riggs was 1-for-3 in the game for the Tigers as Devlin Crosby led with a 1-for-1showing and an RBI.
Excel took an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first and added a run in the third inning to take the win.
The Tigers added a run in the top of the second inning and one in the top of the fourth in the loss.
