As part of the enrichment program under the direction of Teresa Lucas, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from Brewton Middle School recently participated in the Southeast Alabama Model United Nations (SAMUN) hosted by Troy University.
For two days the students presented resolutions for solving global problems competing for recognition in various categories. To prepare for this competition, a Faire of Nations was held on Feb. 28 at Brewton Middle School.
At the faire, students dressed in costumes, prepared recipes of dishes from their country, presented a greeting in the native language and presented their resolutions.
Delegates representing three countries were Hannah Blair, Kate Booker, Crystal Boutwell, Meagan Franklin, Anna Grace Glaize and Kandice Moore representing Ecuador; Ashley Daugherty, Kayla Reiss, Kaneesha Stallworth, Patrick Weaver and Shelby Youngblood representing South Korea; and Sara Allan, Madalyn Baggett, Malik Leach, Logan Lowery and Matthew Pendergrass representing Spain.
Teralyn Moore and Kelsey Templeton, both ninth graders, will serve as officers at SAMUN in Troy.
