Two people were transported to D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital in Brewton after being injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 31 north of Brewton, according to the Alabama State Troopers' office in Evergreen.
The accident happened about 2:53 p.m. at the 76.4-mile marker near the Country Club of Brewton, when a 1981 Ford was rear-ended as the driver, Sheila Wright of Castleberry, was slowing to make a turn. The driver of the 2008 Chevy van, driven by John David Ellison of Monroeville, was not hurt in the accident, but both the driver of the Ford and passenger Brandon Stokes of Castleberry, were treated and transported to the hospital.
The Appleton Volunteer Fire Department, Escambia County Rescue Squad and two ambulances from D.W. McMillan responded, along with Alabama State Trooper Justin Williams who investigated the accident.
