JDCC breaks tie for win on the road

After taking a 5-1 lead and then a 6-2 lead, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team broke an 8-8 tie and took a 10-9 win over Birmingham Southern on Wednesday in Birmingham.
The win improved JDCC to 13-11 on the year.
Cody Sanderson was 4-for-6 at the plate with three runs as Fred Young and Ben Negus had three and two RBIs respectively to help lead JDCC to the win.
JDCC took a 5-1 lead in the top of the third after scoring two runs in the second inning and three in the third inning after falling behind 1-0 in the bottom half of the first.
Birmingham Southern tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning before scoring a 10-8 lead. Birmingham Southern closed the lead to 10-9 in the bottom of the ninth as JDCC held on for the win.
The two teams combined for 26 hits and 10 errors in the game.
Hunter Brown picked up the win for the Warhawks. Brown went three innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Derek Lowery got the start on the mound and the no decision as he went five innings and allowed four hits, two runs (one earned), three walks and three strikeouts.
Josh Benton came in relief of Lowery and allowed four hits, four earned runs, two walks and no strikeouts in one inning of relief.
JDCC will be back in action Friday in Enterprise.
