Brewton City School Board members have not decided on a location for a new middle school, but they discussed getting a jump on the architectural design for the facility at their Monday board meeting.
Superintendent Lynn Smith said he has already been gathering input from middle school officials and teachers about what they would like to see in a school.
The school board did not make any formal decisions about the architectural plan Monday.
The board already has money for the architect's fee, Smith said.
Last year, the school board discussed making a formal offer to the city to buy part of Dogwood Hills golf course to build a new school, but the city council let the school board know it was not interested in selling that property.
The school board is currently looking at other options for land.
