Forgotten Trails: Henderson had 10 children

I am continuing to recount the history of the Tippins family this week.
Sarah Elizabeth Tippins, daughter of James Augustus Tippins and Eliza Edwards (29 Oct. 1816) married Daniel R. Henderson (abt. 1816). Their children were Carolyn Henderson, John L. Henderson, Charles Henderson, James Henderson, James Henderson, George Henderson, William Henderson, Phillip Henderson, Charlotte Henderson and Daniel Webster Henderson.
James Augustus Tippins II ( 27 Nov. 1818) married Rebecca Pipkin. He served as county tax assessor for Escambia County in 1872. The family made a trip to Arkansas and stayed for about two years. It was on this trip that daughter, Octavia Matilda Tippins, was born.
The children of James Augustus Tippins II and Rebecca Pipkin (1824-1888) were, Esther Tippins (6 Nov. 1847), Martha Ann Tippins (7 Oct. 1850-25 Jan. 1925), Sarah Eliza Tippins (11 July 1852-25 Feb. 1876 who married Greenberry Henry Shell, James Augustus Tippins III (6 Sept. 1854) who married an Adams, Octavia Matilda Tippins (30 Sept. 1857) who married Daniel Webster Godwin, Philip Henry Tippins (15 Sept. 1860) who married Rosina Moore, William Richard Tippins (3 Dec. 1862-died young), John Linsa Tippins (3 Dec. 1863-22 Feb. 1873), and Mary Carolina Tippins (4 May 1866).
Charlotte Eleanor Matilda Tippins (1820-1893) married first to William Ellis and second to John A. Ashton. He was born 1813 in Ohio, and died 23 December 1896.
He fought with General Scott in the Mexican War, then in the Seminole War. Honorably discharged from the army, he worked as overseer on General Scott's tobacco plantaion at Quincy, Florida. Later he hewed timber for the government on the Escambia and Conecuh Rivers and made rafts which were carried down to Pensacola. He homesteaded 80 acres on the east side of Murder Creek about three miles from Brewton, and engaged in the tar business at Tar Landing. He served in the Home Guard in the Civil War.
The children of Charlotte Tippins and William Ellis were Phillip Ellis (1842-died young. He was married to Marie Lampkin. Other children were Esther M. Ellis (1844-1926) who married Robert Elijah Downing, Asa Ellis (1846), and Caroline Ellis (1849) who married George Barnes.
The children of Charlotte Tippins and John Ashton were Alexander Kennedy Ashton (1860-1839) who married Catherine Christianne Schad, John A. Ashton Jr. (2 July 1862-12 Jan. 1930) who married Julia Mantel, William E. Ashton (23 Nov. 1865-17 Dec. 1939) who married first Emma Schadd and second Lena J. Schad.
