Three Brewton residents are being held at the Escambia County Detention Center on a variety of drug charges including trafficking and distribution of OxyContin.
Grady Mayhew Butts, 51, and Linda Kay Raines, 40, were arrested April 9 after members of the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at their home located at 44244 U.S. 31 North.
In a separate case, Hugh James Bradford, Jr., 59, was arrested in the parking lot of the Brewton Medical Center on Belleville Avenue April 10. Brewton police officers arrested Bradford immediately following an alleged drug sale of OxyContin on the premises of the facility.
During the search at the home of Butts and Raines, agents recovered more than $72,000 in cash along with OxyContin, Xanax, two firearms and drug paraphernalia.
Butts was charged the trafficking a controlled substance, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Raines was charged with trafficking a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Butts and Raines went before District Judge David Jordan Thursday for bond setting. Assistant District Attorney Todd Sterns made a plea to the judge to set the maximum bond on the pair based on the charges of trafficking.
Sterns also said Raines knew about the drugs and was equally responsible for the drug activity from the location.
After considering statements from Sterns, Jordan imposed a consolidated bond for all charges. Butts and Raines are both being held at the Escambia County Detention Center on a $1.5 million bond.
Bradford remains in the Escambia County Detention Center and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
