Ms. Shellie Ann Samuel, 49, died April 6, 2008. She was a resident of Brewton and a member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 1981 graduate of the University of Alabama and taught special needs students in Escambia and Monroe Counties for more than 28 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Samuel.
She is survived by a daughter, Nitasha Samuel of Brewton; two grandsons, Dayvon and Daniel Samuel of Brewton; her mother, Gladys Samuel of Brewton; five sisters, Angretta (Sam) Brazile of Castleberry, Velma (James) Smith, Lillie (Anthony) McKenzie and Betty (Jimmy) Jackson, all of Brewton, and Janice Samuel of Paris, Texas; four brothers, Willie (Dorothy) Samuel of Brewton, Walter (Frankie) Samuel and Larry Samuel, both of Pensacola, Fla., and Willie Razz (Sharon) Samuel of Jackson, Miss.; five aunts, Lucinda Samuel of Atlanta, Ga., Barbara Samuel of Pensacola, Lillie P. Brazile and Ella Young, both of Brewton, and Catherine Jackson of Sacramento, Calif.; three uncles, Ecclesiastes (Inez) Oliver and U.L. Oliver, both of Omaha, Neb., and Charles McGlown of Brewton; a special friend, Patricia Benjamin Ingram and other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held April 12, at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Duron K. Odom officiating. Burial followed at Sandy Grove Church Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
