TRM stuns MCHS

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team improved to 9-8 on the season on Tuesday with a 9-7 win over Monroe County High School at the YMCA Sports Park.
The Lady Tigers took a 4-0 lead and then fell behind 6-4 before scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-7 lead and get the win 9-7.
Keyetta Jones, Janel McCorvey, and Taylor Guthrie led the Lady Tigers at the plate with 2-for-4 showings. McCorvey and Jones both had one RBI each in the game.
Teralyn Moore was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Miranda Anderson earned the win for the Tigers in relief of starting pitcher Rachel Bostic.
Bostic went three innings and allowed three runs on two hits and struck out tow while walking one.
Anderson went four innings and allowed four runs on three hits and struck out two and walked two.
After holding Monroe County scoreless in the top of the first, the Lady Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning on one hit and two Monroeville errors.
The Lady Tigers scored one run in the bottom of the second inning to grab a 4-0 lead in the game.
The lone run in the inning came on a Keyetta Jones single that was misplayed in the outfield for a three-base error and an inside-the-park homerun.
After T.R. Miller scored in the first two innings and Monroeville was held scoreless. Monroeville scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings while holding the Lady Tigers of Brewton scoreless to claim a 6-4 lead after the bottom of the fourth.
The lady Tigers from Monroeville benefited from five Lady Tiger errors in the two innings to held take the two-run lead.
After being held scoreless in the previous two innings, the Lady Tigers scored four runs in the fifth inning while batting around in the order to take an 8-6 lead.
Teralyn Moore had a two RBI single in the inning to tie the game at 6-6 and would later score as the Tigers claimed the 8-6 lead.
Both teams would score runs in the sixth inning as T.R. Miller held a 9-7 lead in the game and Janel McCorvey made a diving catch in centerfield with two Monroe County Lady Tigers on base to help secure the win.
Both teams will face off against each other again on Tuesday with the game being held in Monroeville at 4:30 p.m.
