Lady Tigers stun Monroe County again with big seventh inning

In a wild game Tuesday in Monroeville, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to claim a 9-5 win over Monroe County and improve to 10-8 on the season.
With Monroe County up 3-1 in the third inning, the Lady Tigers took a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning.
Monroe County threatened to make it an even bigger lead when they loaded the bases in the sixth inning. But, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger defense made two great offensive plays to get out of the jam.
In the top of the seventh inning with Monroe County still up 4-1, Sarah Lee started the rally for the Lady Tigers of Brewton by reaching on an error.
Brandi Kennedy and Janel McCorvey both walked for the Lady Tigers to load the bases.
The next two Lady Tigers get out to make it two outs and the bases loaded.
With Natalie Neal at the plate with a one ball and two strike count, two wild pitches by Monroe County scored Lee and Kennedy to cut the lead to 4-3 and make it a three ball, two strike count on Neal.
Neal walked and then stole second base to put runners on second and third with two out to bring Emily Waters to bat.
Waters doubled into leftfield to give T.R. Miller a 5-4 lead still with two outs.
Leah Brundidge then came to bat for the Lady Tigers and doubled off the fence to score Waters and give T.R. Miller a 6-4 lead still with two outs.
A Keyetta Jones walk was followed by a walk to Lee and Kennedy giving T.R. Miller a 7-4 lead.
McCorvey lined a bullet to right field to score Brundidge and Jones to give T.R. Miller a 9-4 lead with Kennedy thrown out at the plate.
Monroe County added a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but failed to plate anymore runs. The Lady Tigers of Brewton won 9-5.
“Today was a perfect example of why you don't quit and keep playing hard until the last out is made. You never know! I am very proud of the way we hung in there.”
Miranda Anderson was the winning pitcher on the mound for the Lady Tigers going the complete game allowing six hits and struck out two.
With the win, T.R. Miller went to 10-8 on the season and was scheduled to play Excel in Excel on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Tigers dropped an 11-2 decision to Excel Thursday afternoon in Excel dropping their record to 10-9 on the season.
Anderson took the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers.
On Friday and Saturday, the Lady Tigers were set to play in the Spanish Fort Tournament.
On Friday, T.R. Miller was scheduled to take on Spanish Fort on Friday at 5 p.m. and McGill-Toolen at 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Tigers were set to play Davidson at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning and then begin the single elimination part of the tournament on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Results from these games were not available as of press time.
The Lady Tigers will close out their regular season schedule and their home schedule with a doubleheader against Flomaton Tuesday, April 29 at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
On May 2 in the sectional tournament in Andalusia the Lady Tigers will go up against W.S. Neal.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will play at 2 p.m. followed by Hillcrest and Andalusia.
Both winners will play then play as the losers will play. The top two teams will advance in the tournament.
