JDCC baseball falls to LBW

The Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball dropped their third game in a row on Friday afternoon as they took a 5-3 loss to the Chattahoochee Valley Community College Pirates.
JDCC had lost two games to LBW last week as they fell to ChattahoocheeValley on Friday to fall to 21-27 overall and to 10-15 in conference play.
The Warhawks were set to close out their regular season with a double header against the Pirates on Saturday.
Against Chattahoochee, JDCC only managed one hit through seven innings of play, a Justin Reeves hit in the first inning, and failed to score a run as Chattahoochee Valley held a 5-3 after seven innings.
In the bottom of the eighth inning the JDCC bats came alive as they had four hits in the inning and scored three runs to cut the lead to 5-3.
Hunter Norris led the inning off with a solo homerun to right center field to cut the lead to 5-1.
Ben Negus followed with a single and Reeves followed with a double to put runners on second and third with no outs.
Allen Thompson then grounded into a pinch-hit fielder's choice to score Negus and cut the lead to 5-2. The fielder's choice sent Reeves to third with one out.
Cody Sanderson then followed with a walk and a Cody Turner single scored Reeves to cut the lead to 5-3.
That would be the final run of the inning for the Warhawks as neither team scored and the Warhawks fell in the game by two.
Negus and Norris led the Warhawks at the plate. Negus was 3-for-4 on the day as Norris was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a homerun.
Justin Reeves was 2-for-4 on the day as Thompson was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Turner was also 1-for-1 on the day with an RBI for the Warhawks.
Josh Presley took the loss on the mound. Presley went eight innings and allowed five runs on 12 hits and struck out five and walked two.
Josh Benton relieved Presley in the top of the ninth inning and struck out one.
Game two:
LBW 11,
JDCC 8
Needing a sweep of their final five games to make the state playoffs, the JDCC Warhawks dropped their final two games to LBW last week after taking game one 6-5.
JDCC lost game two 11-8 and game three8-5 to fall to 21-26 overall and 10-14 in conference play.
In game two, after holding a 5-4 lead after five innings of play, JDCC surrendered five runs in the top of the sixth inning en route to an 11-8 loss.
Allen Thompson led the Warhawks at the plate with a 3-for-4 showing with two doubles and two RBIs. Justin
Reeves was 1-for-2 with a double.
Robbie Carlson took the loss on the mound going four innings and allowing eight hits and six runs (four earned) while walking one and striking out four.
Game three:
LBW 8,
JDCC 5
In game three against LBW on Saturday, the JDCC Warhawks were out hit 18-9 in the game and committed four errors in the loss.
In game three, Clarence Moorer was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs along with a 3-for-3 showing form Cody Sanderson but it was not enough as JDCC fell 8-5 in the rubber match of the series.
JDCC allowed five runs in the top of the fifth inning to fall behind 6-3 and LBW added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the win.
Justin Reeves was 3-for-4 with one RBI in the loss.
Hunter Brown took the loss on the mound. Brown went four innings and allowed seven hits and six runs and had a strikeout in the loss.
JDCC was set to take on Chattahoochee Valley on Friday and Saturday to close out their season.
With the losses to LBW on Saturday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks baseball team fell out of contention for making the AJCCC state baseball playoffs.
