A group of home-school girls are doing their part to help expectant mothers prepare for their newborn.
Bess Godwin and Allie Rush began learning how to knit in co-op classes at Cornerstone Home School. Knitting instructors for the class are Becky Jordan and Connie Rush.
Allie said she and Godwin knitted a dozen newborn caps and two baby blankets to pass along to the organization.
Jessica Fountain is the director of Sav-A-Life and expressed her appreciation for the donation.
Fountain said participants in the programs offered through Sav-A-Life have an opportunity to earn the money needed to purchase everything for baby from caps, blankets and clothes, all the way to furniture and car seats.
Fountain, who has been the director of the Brewton Sav-A-Life location since January, said she has plenty of goals for the local office.
Fountain said more volunteers are needed in order for the Sav-A-Life services to be offered daily for those who need them.
Currently, the Sav-A-Life offices are located on U.S. 31 South about a mile past Georgia Pacific's location.
Sav-A-Life office hours are Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office can be reached by calling 867-4947.
