Several hundred people made their way into the offices of the newly-opened First Exchange Bank in downtown Brewton, and president Dan Thomas couldn't have been more pleased.
Visiting for the grand opening celebration was Robert Bennett, a family member of the major stockholders in the First Exchange bank.
“We are very excited to open this branch of First Exchange Bank,” Bennett said. “We are thrilled with the staff here and we have some of the best bankers I've ever met.”
Bennett said the Brewton branch is destined to be a major part of the community it serves.
Bennett said the most important aspect of any business is it's relationship to the community.
Officers of the bank bring over 200 years of combined banking experience to the new business, Thomas said.
Other officers include Philip Jennings, Susan Reeves and Shirley Miley serving as vice-presidents; Charlene Godwin serving as compliance officer and Tyree Newkirk serving as administrative assistant. Allison Cooper and Alicia McGill are tellers.
The bank is located 226 St. Joseph Ave. in downtown Brewton. Regular banking hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Although a drive-through is not available at the downtown location, the bank does offer curb service by calling 867-5158.
