Mr. John William Wood Sr., 58, of Evergreen, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, in a Pensacola medical facility. He was a native of Elba and a long-time resident of Brewton. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.
He is survived by three sons, John William (Tonya) Wood Jr. of Castleberry, Dustin Shane Wood of Elba and Tim (Mary) Wood of Brewton; three daughters, Melissa Wood, Michelle Wood and Crystal Wood, all of Elba; three brothers, Richard Sims Sr. of Brewton, Donald Wood of Evergreen, and Larry Wood of Tennessee; two sisters, Sharon Gilliland of Brewton and Betty Searcy of Tennessee; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Dinkins officiating. Burial followed at Range Cemetery in Range with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
