WSN top seniors named

W.S. Neal High School officials have announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the 2008 graduating class.
Maggie Crutchfield has been named as valedictorian with Erin Mallet named as salutatorian.
Crutchfield is the daughter of Jack and Ava Crutchfield. During her high school years she earned a 4.6 GPA or 104.740 on the weighted numerical average.
Among honors bestowed on Crutchfield are Best School Spirit and Most Talented in the Senior Who's Who, 2007 UCA All-Star cheerleader, 2007 Area Washington Youth Tour Representative, and 2006-2007 Escambia County All-Tournament Volleyball Team.
Crutchfield has been active in extracurricular areas including volleyball, cheerleading, tennis, band, Mu Alpha Theta, Math Club, National Honor Society, Math team and Brewton Church of Christ Youth Group.
Crutchfield listed government and economics as her hardest course in school
She has signed a volleyball scholarship with Jefferson Davis Community College and will complete studies at the local institution. Her education plans include a transfer to The University of Alabama.
Crutchfield also passed on advice to those entering W.S. Neal High School next fall.
Mallet is the daughter of Roshelle Mallett and David Mallett. During her time at W.S. Neal High School, She earned a GPA of 4.65 and a 104.057 on the weighted numeric average.
She lists her special honors as salutatorian and the yearly academic awards. Her extracurricular activities include band, color guard, National Honor Society, Neal Eagle Ambassadors, Mu Alpha Theta, Phi Theta Kappa, and play production.
Mallet said her favorite teachers at the school are Mrs. Hathcock and Mrs. Rollin. She listed her hardest course as economics. Mallets educational plans include attending Troy University where she plans to major in elementary education.
In passing on advice to incoming freshmen at the school, Mallet said hard work is a major key.
She plans to attend Troy University and major in elementary education.
Crutchfield and Mallet will each present speeches during commencement exeercises set for Friday, May 23 at the W.S. Neal High School Auditorium.
Baccalaureate services for the graduationg class of 2008 will be held at East Brewton Baptist Church Sunday, May 18.
