Brewton graduates earn law degrees

Brewton natives Mary Frances Byrd Godwin and George R. McCormick, Jr., recently received degrees during ceremonies held May 10 at Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Va.
Godwin, the daughter of Mike and Harriet Godwin, graduated Magna Cum Laude.
During her law school tenure, she served on the Washington and Lee Law Review, the Ted Dalton Inn of Court, and the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse.
Following graduation, she will serve as a law clerk for the Honorable Joel F. Dubina, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
McCormick Jr. received his juris doctor degree during the cermonies.
While at Washington and Lee, McCormick was a member of Phi Delta Phi; was in the Robert J. Grey Jr. Negotiations Competition; finalist (second place) in the Client Counseling Competition; a Mediation Competition semi-finalist; a member of Sports and Entertainment Legal Society; and a member of The Federalist Society.
After graduation he plans to practice law in Washington.
He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 2005.
He is the son of Dr. George and Margaret McCormick of Gulf Breeze, and a former resident of Brewton.
