Mrs. Clara Bell Banks Smith, 75, died May 15, 2008, at an Atmore hospital. She was a native of Wilcox County, and a former resident of Brewton, before moving to Atmore. She was a member of Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church where she had been very active. She was also a member of the Lily Chapter 592 Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vanderbilt and Catherine Savage Banks; and her husband, Robert “Jack” Smith Jr.
She is survived by four sons, Earnest “Jack” Smith and Roy Smith, both of Frankfort, Ken., Van Smith of Atmore and James “Book” Smith of Versailles, Ken.; three sisters, Christine Reese, Eula Lyons and Carrie McCovey, all of Pensacola; two brothers, Roosevelt Banks of Frankfort, Ken., and Ronnie Banks of Greenville; and five grandchildren
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 22, at 1 p.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton, with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel of Atmore directing.
